About This Program

EnginesWe’ll teach you the tools of the trade, then immediately put them to use pulling apart and rebuilding a Cummins, CAT, or Detroit engine. Throughout the course, you’ll get familiar with troubleshooting and diagnosing; performing tune-ups on all major diesel engine brands; adjusting and running heavy-duty engines; and navigating brand-specific websites.Use precision measuring toolsRebuild and repair enginesPerform overhead valve adjustmentsGain experience in mechanical troubleshootingEngine Management SystemsWe’ll set codes on the engine you’re working on; it’ll be your job to tell us what’s wrong, utilizing manufacturers’ step-by-step diagnosis process that includes the use of websites for CAT, Cummins, and Detroit. Additionally, you’ll go through the process of understanding the concept of multiplexing and can-bus in regen and explore the latest technology for diesel management from the engine to exhaust, to diagnostics.Learn the basics of electrical theoryPractice troubleshooting using scan tools, multimeters, and other equipment and industry toolsUnderstand the basics to circuits, starting and charging systems, multiplexing, and morePowertrainsThis phase is where we’ll lay your foundation in antilock brake systems and automatic traction control systems. We start with differentials, then move through hubs, kingpins, and steering. During the course, you’ll get to overhaul an Eaton-Fuller manual transmission; pull, inspect, and measure tolerances on clutches; pull and inspect single- and double-gear reduction differentials; work on and adjust brakes; and work on computer-controlled manual transmissions.Learn failure analysis and troubleshootingDevelop skills in clutch and transmission repair and adjustmentsWork on automatic traction control systemsFluid Power and RefrigerationIn this course, we will go over the basic understanding of hydraulics and hydraulics safety. We will cover hydrostatic drive transmissions, skid steer loaders, and repair and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems. You will learn correct use of flow meters and pressure gauges to diagnose hydraulic and hydrostatic systems. Also covered in this area are the operation, testing and servicing of in-cab air conditioning and transport refrigeration. This phase offers the opportunity to get a 608 and 609 EPA certification for HVAC service and repair.Gain hands-on experience in hydraulic system troubleshooting and repairLearn to rebuild hydraulic pumps and cylindersTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair in-cab air conditioning and transport refrigeration systemsAdvanced Diesel:Phase IConduct proper PDI repairCreate order and parts listsLearn about dual air systemsPerform a function test Ensure ABS and brake systems are functioning correctly Phase IIPull transmissionsInspect and reinstall fuel tankPerform clutch replacement and reinstallationRun emission testing
